New Prineville roundabout brings nearby traffic changes

Final touches underway on $3.8 million project

PRINEVILLE, Ore. -  The new Oregon Highway 126 roundabout at Tom McCall Road in Prineville is now fully open to the traveling public, ODOT said Thursday as it advised drivers of some key traffic changes in the area.

Crews with Alex Hodge Construction have completed construction of the new roundabout and its connection to Tom McCall Road and SW Aviation Boulevard.

With the project's completion, drivers can expect to see changes at the intersections of OR 126 and Airport Way and SW Millican Road, west of the new roundabout. Changes to turning movements at this intersection include:

  • OR 126 and Airport Way are restricted to a right-hand turn out of Airport Way onto OR 126
  • OR 126 and SW Millican Road are restricted to a right-hand turn onto SW Millican Road from OR 126.

Drivers can expect to see signing and striping to designate these changes to the roadway. "The roundabout will offer safer connections to these local routes, improving the safety and mobility of the highway for all users," ODOT said.

Crews are currently finishing the $3.8 million project, and will be completing striping, lighting, sign and seeding/mulching over the next several weeks.
