Gov. Brown orders flags lowered to honor fallen firefighters

SALEM, Ore. - Gov. Kate Brown has ordered all flags at Oregon public institutions to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Sunday in recognition of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day.

"This has been an especially difficult wildfire season, and for many Oregonians, the road to recovery is just beginning," Brown said in a statement Friday.

"I am thankful for the service of brave men and women who protect our land, our communities, and their fellow Oregonians. We honor the legacy of those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and pause for loved ones of those lost," Brown said
