The Phoenix Coyotes will officially become the Arizona Coyotes at the NHL Draft on Friday when the team makes the No. 12 overall selection.
The franchise has been the Phoenix Coyotes since relocating from Winnipeg in 1996. However, the new ownership group wants a more inclusive name for the state of Arizona.
IceArizona bought the team a year ago after it was operated by the NHL for four years.
The team's uniforms will have a new shoulder patch and the lettering in the team logo will change next season.
