Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon, who is now a radio analyst for Seattle Seahawks games, was scammed out of $200,000 by someone who sold Moon Miami Heat tickets that did not exist, MyFoxLA.com reported.
According to the report, a person known as George French Jones offered Moon four courtside tickets for a Heat game for $200,000. Moon also was told that if he bought the tickets, it would be seen as a down payment of sorts for a 5 percent ownership stake in the Heat.
Moon's agent wired $200,000 to a bank in Pasadena, Calif., to complete the transaction.
Moon never received the tickets, and Jones has since disappeared.
The NBA and the Miami Heat contacted the FBI to investigate the situation. Moon's company, Sports 1 Marketing, sued Jones, but Jones has not been located.
Jones attempted to scam at least two other NFL players, according to the MyFoxLA.com report.
