Toronto Maple Leafs coach Randy Carlyle received a two-year contract extension, the team announced Thursday.

Carlyle's job status had been in question since a late-season collapse by the Maple Leafs and the hiring of Brendan Shanahan as their new president. The Maple Leafs missed the playoffs after losing 12 of their final 14 games.

Assistants Dave Farrish, Scott Gordon and Greg Cronin will not be returning to the team.

Selected by Anaheim in the fourth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, the 5-foot-10, 183-pound Vatanen appeared in five of Norfolk's postseason contests, getting three assists. Etem, 21, went scoreless in four postseason games with the Ducks.

Pateryn has played three regular-season games with the Canadiens in the 2012-13 season. He has collected 46 points (22 goals, 24 assists) in 107 regular-season games with the Bulldogs in the AHL since making his professional debut in 2012-13.
