His 19 years of coaching at the collegiate level included head coach at Kansas State (2006-08) and offensive coordinator at Virginia (2001-05, 2009).

--- The Cincinnati Bengals hired Matt Burke as linebackers coach, the team announced.

Burke spent the previous five seasons on the Detroit Lions' coaching staff and has 10 years of NFL experience overall.

Burke replaces Paul Guenther, who was promoted defensive coordinator earlier in the week. Burke, 37, helped coach a Lions defense that ranked sixth in the NFL against the run in 2013.

Burke spent five seasons on the Tennessee Titans' coaching staff, working as an administrative assistant and defensive assistant. He also coached three seasons at the collegiate level.
