BEND, Ore. -

Local youth are invited to participate in Bend Park and Recreation District’s Youth Flag Football League this fall.

The league is open to boys and girls entering 1st through 8th grade in the upcoming 2014-15 school year and runs from September 2nd through November 2nd. The league registration deadline is August 3rd.

Focusing on the fun and excitement of football, the league promotes physical fitness and teaches youngsters sportsmanship lessons about teamwork and fair play as well as basic football fundamentals and game play. Teams practice twice a week and play games on Sunday afternoons.

Registrations made before July 27th offer a discounted fee of $60.00 for in-district residents and $72.00 for out-of-district residents. After July 27th, the registration fee is $70 in-district and $82 out-of-district. Participants can register online at www.bendparksandrec.org.

In addition, the league offers opportunities for adults as volunteer coaches. Providing support with program logistics, coaching and mentoring youth, volunteer coaches must pass a background check, enjoy working with youth and be able to create a positive, encouraging recreational environment for all players.
