Women arrested with pot around their waists
Police in Arizona say the women were trying to smuggle drugs across the border
Two women in Arizona are accused of trying to smuggle drugs across the border by wrapping large packages of marijuana around their waists.
The 61-year-old Douglas woman and a 50-year-old Mexican national were searched as they tried to pass through the port of entry in Douglas late last week, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers told Phoenix TV station KPHO.
Officers said they found two packages of marijuana wrapped around each woman's waist.
The packages weighed about 3 pounds each and had a combined value of $2,860, according to police.
The pair was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations, KPHO reported.
