OSP troopers seek witnesses to head-on collision

McKENZIE BRIDGE, Ore. - Oregon State Police are seeking witnesses to a fatal car-motorcycle crash that killed a Redmond man Saturday at an intersection on Highway 126E near McKenzie Bridge.

The crash occurred around noon at the intersection of Highway 126E and Mill Creek Road west of McKenzie Bridge. OSP is seeking witnesses who reportedly were at the intersection when the crash occurred but left before they could be interviewed.

Around noon Saturday, a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle pulling a small utility trailer and operated by David Edwards, 41, of Redmond, was heading east on Highway 126E near milepost 47 when it reportedly crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a 2007 Honda Accord.

Edwards, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown to the ground, troopers said, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Honda's driver, Ellen R. Weaver, 77, from Eugene, was taken by ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend, where she was treated and released, troopers said.

OSP troopers from the Springfield Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Trooper Andy Youngblood is the lead investigator.

OSP is seeking any witnesses who were in the area at the time of the crash. Anyone with information not shared with troopers is asked to call OSP Northern Command Center dispatch at 800-452-7888.
