BEND, Ore. - OSU-Cascades was expected to submit its Westside site plans to the city of Bend Monday, but things did not go quite as planned.
OSU-Cascades officials are waiting on the city's analysis of sewer and water capacity. Once they get that back, they'll immediately submit the site plans for the 10-acre parcel. That might happen as soon as Tuesday.
"This is a momentous occasion for Central Oregon," said Kelly Sparks, associate vice president for finance and strategic planning at OSU-Cascades "We've been working towards getting a campus in Central Oregon for decades, and we're one step closer on this journey coming to an end."
The site plan for the 10-acre parcel will start the formal permitting and land use review process. Under state law, the city of Bend has 120 days to rule on the site plans. Plans on the adjacent 46 acres are not being submitted at this time.
Starting next Monday, NewsChannel 21 will begin a four part series on OSU-Cascades, starting with the timeline.
"We do want to move forward, but we want to move forward in the right way of collaborating," Sparks said. "We are hopeful. We have seen the city in terms of city staff and suggestions by the city council and the planning commission really be a partner with us," Sparks said.
