Guard helicopter assists in fallen hiker rescue near N. Sister

A hiker from Eugene injured in a fall near a lake north of the North Sister was hoisted aboard an Oregon Air National Guard helicopter late Thursday afternoon for a trip to the hospital, capping a seven-hour Deschutes County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue effort that began with a text-message emergency beacon.

2013: Singer Patty Andrews (middle), the last surviving member of the singing Andrews Sisters trio, dies of natural causes at age 94 in Los Angeles, California. The Andrews Sisters, which also included her sisters LaVerne (top) and Maxene (bottom), were best known for their 1941 hit "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy." They recorded more than 400 songs and sold over 80 million records until LaVerne's death in 1967.
