BEND, Ore. -

As contractors near completion of the new Third Street overpass and Murphy Road Bridge over the Bend Parkway (Highway 97) in southern Bend, traffic managers will be removing the Romaine Village Way exit and entrance on the highway, ODOT reported Thursday.

The closure is necessary as the new Third Street on-ramp to southbound Highway 97 conflicts with Romaine Village Way.

This closure will take effect Monday at 6 a.m. and will be permanent, ODOT said. (Emergency egress will still be provided).

The $27 Million US97/Murphy Road project is a combined effort with the city of Bend to increase the east-west connectivity in south Bend, and eliminate two sets of signals.
