A ruined potato crop in Japan's large potato-producing region has caused the country to enter a potato chip shortage, reports UPI.

Typhoons that struck the Hokkaido region, ruining this year's potato crop, have prompted Japanese chip company Calbee to halt production of its 15 most popular chip brands. People have been flocking to stores hoping to grab the remaining bags,

A bag of chips that usually sells for 200 yen ($1.84) is now going for more than 1,250 yen ($12) in online auctions.
