ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Mt. Ashland ski area took advantage of the weather to open a week earlier than usual.
The Mail Tribune reports (https://is.gd/rEYfRm ) that about 1,000 skiers and snowboarders went down the slopes Sunday.
The ski area was set to open Dec. 10 but snowfall last week pushed the date up.
More snow was expected on Mt. Ashland through Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service Service in Medford. Snow could fall on the valley floor late Monday night and Tuesday.
Last year the ski park opened Dec. 13. Back in 2013-14, the ski park was closed all winter because of a lack of snow.
