TERREBONNE, Ore. - Rescuers from two agencies came to the aid of a Montana man injured Friday when he fell 20 to 25 feet in the Dihedrals climbing area of Smith Rock State Park, authorities said.
Around 10:40 a.m., Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue and Redmond Fire and Rescue were dispatched to assist the fallen climber, later identified as Luke Johnson, 40, of Kalispell, Montana, said Deputy Jim Whitcomb, assistant SAR coordinator.
Johnson suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the fall, Whitcomb said.
Redmond Fire and Rescue, along with one DCSO SAR deputy and eight SAR members, responded to the location.
Johnson's injuries were evaluated and he was packaged in a wheeled litter, then taken to St. Charles Redmond where for treatment of his injuries, the deputy said.
