An Italian man on house arrest asks to go to prison ... to escape his wife.

Walid Chaabani, 32, intentionally left his home in Livorno, where he was serving time for drug-related charges, earlier this week and was taken into custody by police, Italian wire service ANSA reported.

Once arrested, he requested to be put behind bars.

"Living with his wife was particularly difficult and unbearable," police said in a statement, according to Italy's The Local.

Chaabani also told authorities that he was "tired of continuously fighting with his wife."

A local court approved his request and he's now serving out the rest of his sentence in a Tuscan prison.
