Free tax-form assistance, filing in Redmond

The AARP TaxAide program provides free personal income tax preparation & electronic filing service in the Redmond area.  AARP membership is not required and there is no income or age restriction in order to take advantage of the service.

AARP TaxAide tax preparers are certified each year by the IRS.  Since 1968, AARP has provided the largest volunteer run tax assistance program in the nation.  If you would like AARP TaxAide to prepare & E-file your personal Federal & Oregon 2016 tax return, please call Redmond AARP TaxAide at 541 526-3834 for an appointment.  Tax preparation will begin Wednesday February 1st at Neighbor Impact [Redmond] 2302 SW First Street [same location as last year!].  Please do NOT call Neighbor Impact for a tax appointment.

For the 2016 tax year, the IRS requires all taxpayers to bring the following information to their TaxAide appointment.  The purpose of these requirements is to prevent taxpayer identification theft and tax fraud.

IMPORTANT!

·        The preparer must see the Social Security card or ITIN identification for each person [including dependents!] listed on the tax return.

·        The preparer must see a picture ID for both the primary and secondary taxpayer.

·        The IRS has completely changed computer software this tax year.  As a result, TaxAide/VITA tax preparers will NOT be able to access electronically filed tax returns from previous years (even if Redmond TaxAide filed the return).   Taxpayers should bring the paper copy of their 2015 return or for any prior years for amended returns.

Redmond AARP TaxAide prepares only Federal and Oregon personal income tax returns and cannot prepare or file income tax returns for other states.
