REDMOND, Ore. - The Redmond School Board voted unanimously Wednesday to name Interim Superintendent Mike McIntosh to the permanent superintendent position for the Redmond School District.
"Superintendent McIntosh's leadership continues to exemplify the highest personal integrity and unparalleled dedication to our students, our families and all in our district," said Board Chair Cathy Miller.
Miller added, "He clearly understands the challenges ahead, and is committed to a culture of learning that is growth-oriented and achievement driven."
McIntosh has served as interim superintendent since July, replacing previous superintendent Shay Mikalson who resigned to pursue other opportunities.
"I am honored to accept the position of superintendent for the Redmond School District," said McIntosh. "My heart and soul is in this district, and I am excited to be given the opportunity to work with our incredible staff to ensure our students receive a relevant and rigorous education."
McIntosh has been in the Redmond School District for 15 years. He has served as principal at Lynch Elementary, Elton Gregory Middle School and Terrebonne Community School and most recently the director of operations.
Pending contract negotiations, McIntosh will begin his official three-year contract beginning July 1, 2013.
