BEND, Ore. -

Bend-La Pine Schools Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Programs Lora Nordquist announced to Buckingham Elementary School staff Thursday afternoon that their next principal will have a familiar face.

“After a lengthy interview process, Sunshine Dandurand, former student services coordinator at Buckingham Elementary School, will become the school's next principal,” Nordquist said. “Sunshine is an exceptional leader who radiates positive energy. We are fortunate to have her rejoining our team.”

Dandurand was selected to become the school's next principal after a day long interview process. She is currently serving as assistant principal at the International School of Panama.

“As an assistant principal in Panama, I have strengthened by skills in supporting teams, creating systems, training in backwards design, and evaluating teachers and staff to improve student learning,” said Dandurand.

She added that she is looking forward to coming home to Bend and public education, where every student has opportunity for success.

“My drive comes from children give us every day - grit, heart and dedication,” she said. “At Buckingham, every adult pulls together to problem solve and serve every student each and every day. I am ready to lead this great team and serve the students and families that I love.”

Dandurand will assume her new role on July 1.
