PRINEVILLE, Ore. -

The American Cancer Society estimates that about 232,340 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in the United States in 2013. Since 2007, the Central Oregon Association of Realtors (COAR) has ponied up to make a difference in Central Oregon.

COAR donated $3,000 to the “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” campaign this year, all of which stays in Central Oregon. COAR also donated $500—and Prineville Realtors collectively donated $1500—to the local Kids’ Club.

Members of the Kids’ Club joined about a dozen Prineville Realtors, all dressed in pink, to march in the Crooked River Roundup Parade beside a parade float. Participants collected donations along the parade route, and later at the Rodeo, totaling about $2400.

Added to the COAR donation, the Tough Enough to Wear Pink fundraiser is donating $5m400 to Breast Cancer awareness; Wrangler Jean Company will match the amount nationally, as they have for the past seven years.

“Because of COAR’s donation and event organization, our local Tough Enough to Wear Pink event is able to raise significant funds for breast cancer awareness each year,” says COAR President, Michael Warren II, who has organized the event since 2007. “With the help of local Realtors, and with the generosity of the community, we are able to do something significant in the fight against cancer.”
