PRINEVILLE, Ore. - The Prineville Bureau of Land Management is currently developing an Environmental Assessment to analyze requests to renew grazing permits and leases on 39 allotments throughout Central Oregon.
The EA will consider existing allotments, changing season of use, constructing new or maintaining existing infrastructure such as fences, cattle guards and water sources, as well as adjusting the number of livestock allowed in an allotment.
The BLM is now in the scoping phase of the environmental analysis under the National Environmental Policy Act. This means that any comments received by the public or interested parties will be used to identify issues and develop alternatives.
Although there will be additional opportunities to comment during this process, BLM is requesting input now so that it can be considered early in our planning process.
Comments must be received no later than March 1, 2013 and can be sent by U.S. Mail, electronically, or faxed to the Prineville BLM District Office. Comments will be most useful if they provide information about the proposed actions discussed above, propose alternative actions, or identify issues or concerns.
