High Desert Museum receives $125,000 grant

BEND, Ore. - As part of more than $1.1 million being invested in the Creative Heights initiative in 2014 by The Oregon Community Foundation the High Desert Museum in Bend received a $125,000 grant for the museum to develop interdisciplinary programming that revisits the prolific programs of the Great Depression through literature, music, theater, film and visual arts.

The High Desert Museum has commissioned three artists to create work that responds to the state of Oregon today.

The Creative Heights initiative is a $4 million, five-year investment by OCF in arts and culture organizations around Oregon. Creative Heights grants recognize the need for arts and culture organizations throughout the state to test new ideas, stretch their creative capacity, and provide unique opportunities for Oregonians to experience innovative arts and culture.

"Through the Creative Heights initiative, OCF is able to help arts and culture nonprofits innovate," said Max Williams, OCF president and CEO. "We're excited that audiences in Deschutes County and throughout Oregon will have opportunities to experience the creative power of artists in our state."
