BEND, Ore. - Thanks to the support of Bend, La Pine and Sunriver residents, a new elementary and a new middle school will open doors to students as soon as Fall 2015. These learning centers will help balance student enrollment growth across a district that has seen more than 1,000 new students enroll in the last five years alone.
Two local firms, Steele Associates Architects (elementary school design) and BBT Architects (middle school design) are designing the new schools. Both firms have been busy working with teachers, facilities specialists and volunteers to design inviting, safe learning environments that can accommodate a variety of learning styles in flexible spaces for decades to come.
These architects, and members of the school design teams, will be available to share drawings of initial site plans, floor plans and school renderings during open-house-style events next week.

ABOUT THE NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SITE?
The new 600-seat elementary school will be sited on a 12.5-acre parcel of 'shovel ready' land located between Reed Market Road and Brosterhous Road, east of Third Street in Bend. Steele Associates Architects has been hired to design the elementary school.
ABOUT THE NEW MIDDLE SCHOOL SITE?
The new 800-seat middle school will be sited on 33-acres between William E. Miller Elementary and Summit High schools in Bend. BBT Architecture has been hired to design the middle school.
ABOUT THE 2013 SCHOOL BOND
In May, voters approved a bond measure to authorize Bend-La Pine Schools to sell $96 million in bonds to fund the construction of two new schools to address continued enrollment growth and 138 other safety, maintenance, and classroom addition projects on the community's behalf. Citizens in the Bend, La Pine and Sunriver areas approved the bond request with the highest 'yes' vote in history.
