REDMOND, Ore. - The Board of Directors of BrightSide Animal Center is pleased to announce the promotion of Ms. Christine Bauersfeld to the position of Executive Director of the organization.
Chris has been employed at BrightSide (then Redmond Humane Society) for over four years as the Shelter Manager. In her new role, she will be responsible for all activities of the organization, reporting directly to the board.
Chris has over 30 years of experience as a Certified Veterinary Technician and has served on several shelter boards. In her time at the shelter, Chris has developed innovative sheltering solutions and a responsible admissions policy that results in one of the highest save rates in the country – 99% for dogs and 98% for cats in 2012. A community-based, volunteer-rich approach to BrightSide programs ensures one of the lowest shelter costs per animal in the State.
Mark Crose, President, Board of Directors, BrightSide Animal Center: "Chris has proven her outstanding ability to run the organization with the best interests of our animals and community as her focus. The Board of Directors is pleased that Chris has agreed to assume this new role and will support her as she brings her extensive experience and compassion for the animals and their families to our community. Chris has been instrumental in transitioning the organization from the old perception of what a shelter was to BrightSide's focus on equipping both animals and owners with the skills and training to leave our front doors together with a happy, secure future."
Christine Bauersfeld, Executive Director, BrightSide Animal Center: "I am excited to assume the role of Executive Director at BrightSide Animal Center. Over the past four years, the effort put forth by our board, staff and volunteers has resulted in an exemplary Shelter and an important resource for our community. I am proud to be a part of BrightSide and I'm confident the future holds even more promise for our organization."
