COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say the man shot and killed as he was sleeping in his vehicle at an Oregon beach was a Michigan man who decided to stay for a week's vacation after being an exhibitor at a local recreational vehicle show.
Coos County District Attorney Paul Frasier adds Tuesday that investigators have reason to believe that the gunman, who committed suicide, may have also "done harm" to his father, whose vehicle was found in another rural area.
Frasier adds that investigators stopped working on suspect Zachary Levi Brimhall's vehicle after finding bomb-making materials, and have not approached the father's car for fear it could also contain explosives.
The sleeping victim has been identified as 43-year-old David Jesse Hortman of Walker, Michigan. The father is 58-year-old Ray Brimhall.
