Bend man arrested on abuse charges

Police say he frequented pool, seek tips from public

BEND, Ore. - A 78-year-old Bend man, arrested last month for sexually abusing a girl late last year, frequented Romaine Village Park and pool, police said Friday as they asked for anyone with information about him to contact them.

George Lewis Ellis Sr. was arrested Jan. 12 and charged with sexually abusing a female child, said Sgt. Nick Parker, adding that the incident occurred between October and December of last year.

Ellis remained held Friday at the Deschutes County Jail on $100,000 bail, facing first-degree charges of sexual abuse, sodomy and unlawful sexual penetration.

During the investigation, Parker said, investigators learned Ellis routinely frequented the Romaine Village Park and pool, although he said that was not where Ellis met or allegedly abused the victim.

Parker asked anyone with information about Ellis to contact him at 541-322-6362.
