Bend PD plans pedestrian operation

BEND, ore. -

The City of Bend Police Department will conduct a Pedestrian Safety Enforcement Operation on Wednesday July 24, 2013, between the hours of 10:30am to 2:30pm at the intersection of SE 15th Street and SE Riviera Drive.  

Under Oregon law, a crosswalk exists at any public street intersection, whether marked with paint or unmarked.  Crosswalks also exist between intersections (mid-block) where indicated with white paint.

Failing to stop or remain stopped for a pedestrian in a crosswalk is a Class B traffic violation punishable by a fine of $260.  Please help make the pedestrian safety awareness campaign successful by spreading awareness of pedestrian rights.
