The Bend Police Department would like to introduce Lori Drew as our new Community Liaison Officer. Lori is replacing Steve Esselstyn, who officially retired May 15.
Lori Beth Drew was born and raised in Eugene. She graduated from North Eugene High School in 1978. She attended Lane Community College, where she obtained an Associate of Arts degree in 1980. She then obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology from Southern Oregon State College in 1982.
Lori was hired as a public safety officer for the University of Oregon in 1983. She was then hired by the Portland Police Bureau in 1985. She worked as a patrol officer in Portland until promoting to detective in 1993. She then supervised the Sunshine Division and the FBI’s Northwest Regional Computer Forensics Lab as a sergeant from 2005-2009. She finished her career as a detective in the White Collar Crime Unit in 2010. Her retirement came after 25 years of service with Portland Police Bureau.
After Lori retired, she was hired as an investigator with the Oregon Department of Justice in Portland. Lori worked for the DOJ for about two years, investigating environmental crimes all over Oregon.
After visiting and vacationing in Bend multiple times, Lori was able to move to Bend in 2012. Lori likes the outdoors, enjoys skiing and hiking, and is looking forward to her career at the Bend Police Department.
