BEND, Ore. -

Dozens of Bend community members enjoyed the beautiful day Sunday to help clean up the dog park along the Deschutes River.

It's one of seven dog parks that will be cleaned up this month and next.

The cleanup was a collaborative effort between Bend Park and Rec District, Dog-PAC and the Bend Veterinary Clinic.

Community members spread bark, picked up rocks and trash, pulled weeds, all in an effort to make the off-leash dog park a more enjoyable experience for owners and their four-legged friends.

"It takes care of waste and makes parks more user friendly for people to be out here playing with their dogs," said Abel Trotter, a technician at Bend Veterinary Clinic. "They don't get in all of the ... junk, I guess you could say."

The next dog park cleanup will be at Pine Nursery Park and will be hosted by the Friends of Pine Nursery.

If you would like to volunteer all you need are gloves and a water bottle.

Bags, tools and supplies are provided.
