MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — Authorities in Medford say they're growing increasingly worried about a string of fires that may be the work of an arsonist.
The Medford Mail Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1qddzvU) the latest was early Tuesday in the home of a woman who was awakened by fire and threw open her front door just as two police officers were preparing to kick it in.
Authorities haven't determined the fire is an arson case, but they note it's in the same west Medford neighborhood where eight other suspicious fires have been reported.
Firefighters controlled the Tuesday fire in minutes, No one was hurt. Then they rushed a few blocks to put out a fire in debris piled against a fence.
The fires began July 9.
Detective Jim Williams says no suspect has been identified.
