PRINEVILLE, Ore. -

A 79-year-old Prineville woman was treated at the hospital after her car struck a garbage truck stopped in the oncoming lane of SE Davis Loop south of town, Crook County sheriff’s deputies said Thursday.

Deputies and medics were dispatched around 10:20 a.m. Wednesday to the reported two-vehicle crash on SE Davis Loop at Scenic Drive, said Undersheriff John Gautney.

They determined that Cele Jacobson, 79, of Prineville, was driving a 1999 Buick LeSabre heading north on Davis Loop when she came around a corner and struck a Prineville Disposal truck stopped in the road to pick up trash, Gautney said.

Jacobson’s car struck head-on the truck stopped in her lane of travel, the undersheriff said, adding that the truck was being operated by Dustin Bailey of Prineville.

The woman, who was reported to be having chest pain, was taken to Pioneer Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

No citations have been issued at this time, Gautney said, but the crash remains under investigation.

The crash closed SE Davis Loop for about an hour.
