OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) — Rejecting an insanity defense, Oregon jurors took just 15 minutes to convict a suburban Portland man of two counts of aggravated murder in the shooting deaths of his 71-year-old mother and his 16-year-old nephew.

The Oregonian reports (http://is.gd/ryNtBF ) that Adrien Wallace admitted killing Saundra Sue Wallace of Lake Oswego and Nicholas Juarez in June 2012. Jurors returned their verdict Wednesday.

Prosecutors said a perceived slight touched off the violence. Wallace was accused of using a high-powered rifle to shoot his mother five times, and his nephew 12 times.

The sentencing phase of the trial is due to begin Tuesday. Wallace could face the death penalty.
