REDMOND, Ore. -

Police are searching for a man who broke into a northwest Redmond business, stole cash and ran Friday morning, leaving workers frustrated and dismayed.

It happened around 9 a.m. at NW Sixth Street and Maple Avenue.

The owners of Butch's Place Automotive and Paradise Coffee Co. work together as a family.

They own a house in the back of the auto shop, where the suspect found an unlocked door and stole cash from inside. Police said he then jumped a fence and ran away.

Workers for the businesses called it a frustrating experience.

"Why people can't just leave other people's things alone, I don't know," said Marian Courtney, who saw the suspect run. "That's what I was taught as a kid. What happened to that?

Police said the suspect was a male with a slim build. he was last seen wearing a drab green hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans.
