La Pine Man Arrested in NE Bend Prowler Cases
Police Dog Finds Suspect Hiding Under RV
Two prowler reports early Monday in a northeast Bend neighborhood led to a search with a police dog and the arrest of a La Pine man found hiding under a backyard RV, officers said.
Officers responded around 3:20 to a complaint in the area of Stonebrook Drive and Mays Avenue, said Officer Elizabeth Lawrence.
The two victims described the subject as a man with a shaved head and a bluish-gray coat, Lawrence said. Officers were unable to find the suspect, she added.
However, around 4:40 a.m., officers were dispatched again to the same area after a man tried to enter a residence twice through the locked front door, Lawrence said. The victim described the man as wearing a black jacket with the hood over his head.
Bend police K-9 Haras searched the area and found the suspect, identified as Lucas Ray Evans, 28, of La Pine, hiding under an RV in a fenced back yard of a residence, Lawrence said.
Evans complied with officers? commands and was taken into custody without incident, she said.
Evans was lodged at the Deschutes County Jail, held without bail on a parole violation charge and three counts of second-degree criminal trespass.
