Hundreds ran for a cause in Sunriver on Saturday in the second annual Sunriver Marathon for a Cause.
Men, women, children and even some four-legged runners ran 5K and 10K races. Many of the racers said although they love to run, it was the cause that drew them to today's event.
"Like so many events, this is another great one that's for a cause and of course cancer awareness," said Jason Townsend, winner of the men's 5K race.
"If you don't have an immediate family member, you have somebody that's close in your network that is always affected by something like this. So any event that you can put your proceeds to and go for a cause is a great thing."
On Sunday, runners will participate in a full and half-marathon through Sunriver. All of this weekend's races raise funds for breast cancer programs and services in Oregon that help uninsured women.
Sunday's marathon is also a Boston Marathon qualifier.
