The filing period is open for Bend City Council candidates through Aug. 30 -- and more than two months before the deadline, eight people, including two incumbents, are planning to run for one of the four seats on the ballot.

The following updated list of candidates have filed prospective petitions and have been approved to begin gathering signatures:
