BEND, Ore. -

The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office is looking for the owners of a horse found at a home north of Bend on Wednesday evening.

Late in the evening, deputies responded to a report of a found horse at a residence between Bend and Redmond on the west side of Highway 97. It is unknown how or why the horse wandered to this location.

The horse (temporarily nicknamed ?Smoke? by the Sheriff?s Office) is an approximately 8 to 10-year-old dark buckskin quarter horse mare.

Other than needing some hoof care, she appears to have been well-taken care of in the past. She does have some fresh scratches on her lower chest from possibly breaking through fencing.

Any person with an ownership claim or information on a possible owner is asked to contact the non-emergency Dispatch line at 541-693-6911. Callers should reference Deschutes County Sheriff?s Office case number 12-121584 and, if needed, be prepared to offer additional descriptive details.
