BEND, Ore. -

National Public Health Week is April 1 through 7, and to celebrate each year, the Deschutes County Health Services Department honors County residents who promote public or behavioral (mental) health in their daily lives. The County seeks Health Hero nominations before Friday, March 8.

To be considered for a Health Hero award, the County seeks nominations of individuals or organizations who are heroes of health in Deschutes County.  Please complete the attached form explaining why you believe the nominated person or organization should receive recognition, including detailed contact information and credentials.

A Deschutes County Health Hero may have been instrumental in developing community health-or behavioral health-policies, practices or programs that promote the health and well being of individuals, families, neighborhoods, and communities here in Deschutes County. Do you know someone that has created programs that improve mental, physical, spiritual, or social health? If so, please nominate them!

Examples of an individual or organization that could be nominated for a Health Hero award include community members, a Deschutes County employee, business or corporation, youth (19 years-old or younger), a community-based program, health leader, or a non-profit organization.

Please email all nominations by Friday, March 8 to Diane.Skinner@deschutes.org at Deschutes County Health Services. Awardees will be determined at the Combined Advisory Board meeting on Wednesday, March 27.
