Eight COCC nursing students will embark on a medical mission to Daharamsala, India in September.
Dharamsala is an area where there is little access to medical care and what care is available is often inadequate. While there, the students will have the honor of receiving a private teaching from the Dalia Lama at the Buddhist temple. Donations are needed to make this trip possible for all eight students.
There will be a fundraiser at Pappy?s pizza in Redmond June 26th. When diners bring a flier for NSDMM they will donate 50% of the cost of that food order to NSDMM. There will also be a raffle and concert TBA as soon as the date is officially set.
Jen Wisniewski, NSDMM President said, ?With the continuing support of the community and the more the word gets out, the more people we will be able to help.? Maria Buagas, NSDMM treasurer has stated ?I am so thankful for the support Pappy?s Pizza has shown us. If more of our community knew about what we are doing and are trying to accomplish-the possibilities would be endless.?
A Facebook page with information on upcoming events and student bio?s etc. can be found at https://www.facebook.com/NursingStudentsToDharamsala or email Tiffany Simmons @ tkssp77@yahoo.com for additional questions or more detailed information.
NSDMM hopes to bring donated medical supplies to India and with compassion and care, improve the life of the people of Dharamsala. NSDMM plans to share the experience with local high schools upon return to promote volunteering & healthcare careers.
