SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) — A state spokesman says a trucker who drove a 69-ton turbine from Kansas to Oregon only to see it tip over a block from its destination wasn't carrying the proper endorsements for hauling the load.

The Eugene Register-Guard reports (http://bit.ly/XYCNBW) the accident closed a Highway 126 off-ramp and a Springfield street for much of Wednesday.

Workers piled up gravel to brace the turbine so it wouldn't roll further.

The turbine was headed for the Kingsford Manufacturing plant, which makes charcoal.

Department of Transportation spokesman Rick Little said Vitex Trucking will get a "strike one" warning, meaning it wouldn't be allowed to get permits after two more violations. Little says the finding will be reported to a federal database. Springfield police haven't said whether it will cite the driver.
