A vehicle description led to the weekend arrest of two Bend 20-year-olds, accused of beating and kicking another man at Riverfront Plaza in downtown Bend, police said.

Officers were dispatched around 11:45 p.m. Friday to the circular plaza by Mirror Pond Gallery on a report of a man on the ground bleeding, said Sgt. Nick Parker.

They arrived to find Phillippe Allen Glade-Cross, 28, of Bend, on the ground with facial injuries, Parker said.

Police determined two males had become upset with Glade-Cross and assaulted him by hitting and kicking him, the sergeant said.

The suspects fled the area in a white Chrysler PT Cruiser, Parker said. While a partial license plate was obtained, officers were unable to locate the suspects or vehicle that night.

Around 10 p.m. Saturday, an officer spotted a white PT Cruiser with a license plate similar to the one reported, Parker said.

Zackary Ashton Soto and Austin Phillip Cronin, both 20 and of Bend, were contacted in the vehicle and matched the suspect descriptions from the assault.

The two men were arrested on third-degree assault charges and lodged at the Deschutes County Jail on $5,000 bail. They were later released on their own recognizance.

Glade-Cross was evaluated at the scene by Bend Fire medics for non-life-threatening injuries and was not taken to the hospital, Parker said.
