SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber and state Rep. Dennis Richardson have scheduled two out of the five debates they've agreed to hold.
The campaigns agreed to debate Sept. 26 in Bend at a forum sponsored by the Oregon Association of Broadcasters. They'll meet the next day in Eugene at a debate sponsored by the League of Oregon Cities.
Kitzhaber campaign spokeswoman Amy Wojcicki and Richardson campaign manager Charlie Pearce said Monday that the campaigns are still discussing dates for other meetings.
Kitzhaber, a Democrat, last month proposed five specific debates. They include the Eugene and Bend events that are now scheduled, along with others sponsored by the Portland City Club, KGW-TV in Portland and KOBI-TV in Medford.
