Everything's cool between Michael J. Fox, Taylor Swift

Michael J. Fox may not have really known about Taylor Swift prior to the Golden Globes, but it's fair to say he's now acquainted.

The 51-year-old actor has made amends with the 23-year-old country star after hinting to New York Magazine's Vulture that he wouldn't approve of her dating his son.

"No. No .... Just back off," Fox said to the idea of his son, Sam, hanging out with Swift. "I don't keep up with it all ... But Taylor Swift writes songs about everybody she goes out with, right? What a way to build a career."

Those comments came after Tina Fey poked fun at Swift's vibrant dating life, telling the singer to "stay away" from Sam because she "needs some 'me time' to learn about herself."

While Swift hasn't commented on the joke that started it all, the singer did update her Twitter followers on Friday to let them know she and Fox were on good terms.

"Hey everybody, Michael J. Fox got in touch with me today and we are good," she posted that afternoon. "Thank you for having my back."
