2014 Mitsubishi Outlander revealed at L.A. Auto Show
All-new 7-seater emphasizes comfort, efficiency
Mitsubishi showed off its all-new Outlander 7-seat SUV Thursday at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
While it’s not a revolutionary design, the new car is clean with a slightly techno look to it (especially in the tail lights). Mitsubishi says the new design is slightly more aerodynamic and 200 pounds lighter than the previous model.
Mitsubishi said those changes, and an efficient 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, will help the new Outlander become one of the most fuel-efficient 7-passenger SUVs on the market.
However, if you want a little more oomph in your drive, the new Outlander GT will come with a 3-liter V-6 engine.
As you would expect, safety is also a concern. The Outlander will be available with things like adaptive cruise control, a forward-collision warning system that will apply the brakes if a crash is unavoidable, and a lane-departure warning system. Standard safety features include things like seven airbags, stability control, traction control and anti-lock brakes.
The new Outlander is expected to go on sale in 2013, while Mitsubishi also plans to launch a plug-in hybrid version in early 2014.
