Sheriff's officers say a 22-year-old man died while trying to save the life of a 5-year-old boy who fell into the North Santiam River near Gates, Ore. The boy is missing in the river.
A Portland man mountain biking on the “Whoops” trail west of Bend was seriously injured Friday afternoon when he failed to make a turn and left the trail. The crash threw him about 15 feet in the air before he struck a tree, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said.
