BMC seeks cholesterol clinical study participants

BEND, Ore. - Bend Memorial Clinic is seeking people who have had a heart attack or stroke and have high cholesterol to participate in The Fourier Study, a clinical trial sponsored by a leading pharmaceutical company.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 71 million American adults (33.5%) have high LDL or "bad" cholesterol and only one out of every three adults with LDL cholesterol has the condition under control.

Fourier is a clinical research study to find out if an investigational medication may reduce the risk of future heart attacks, strokes, related to cardiovascular events and death in individuals with a prior history of these conditions. The study is investigating a different approach to reducing LDL cholesterol or "bad" cholesterol.

Individuals may qualify if they are 40 to 85 years of age and have had a heart attack, stroke or peripheral artery disease.  Participants will receive study-required medical care and may receive study medication. Participants may also receive compensation for time and travel.
