KETCHUM, Idaho (AP) - Officials in Blaine County in central Idaho are considering removing tons of silt from Magic Reservoir so that boaters can use the popular Hot Springs Landing site longer in the season.
Lamar Waters, who oversees the county's waterways program, presented the plan to Blaine County commissioners on Tuesday.
The Idaho Mountain Express reports that Waters says removing silt could extend the boating season for a month.
He says the landing is only usable when the reservoir is full because so much silt has accumulated.
Waters says landscape companies and excavation companies are interested in the nutrient-rich soil.
Commissioners did not say when they might make a decision on the excavation.
