Shatner does Levi — for real this time.

Conan O'Brien apologized to Levi Johnston on The Tonight Show for falsely attributing tweets to the upcoming Playgirl centerfold in an earlier skit, but not before taking one more William Shatner-assisted shot at the father of Sarah Palin's grandson.

Sarah Palin "appalled" by Levi Johnston's comments, says he's "desperate" doing Playgirl

"I'd like to apologize personally to Levi Johnston and his lawyer and publicist for misrepresenting him in any way," O'Brien said on Thursday's show. "Levi is clearly a great American. We wish him the best of luck as he trains for his upcoming naked photo shoot."

On Wednesday's show, O'Brien recruited Shatner to stage a dramatic reading of Johnston's supposed 140-character musings on Twitter accompanied by bongos and bass. (Lest we forget, the Star Trek vet turned Palin's tweets into beatnik poetry over the summer.)

Among the deadpanned gems: "You know you're a celebrity when strangers want to see your penis. LMAO."

The skit was no laughing matter for Johnston, who claimed he does not have a Twitter account and demanded a retraction from NBC.

To make amends, O'Brien brought Shatner back onstage to reprise the routine Thursday — this time with verified Johnston quotes.
