A small plane with three people aboard apparently lost power after taking off from the Sunriver Airport Friday afternoon and made an emergency landing on a grassy meadow about a quarter-mile north of the runway, officials said.
The Piper Arrow landed in the field north of River Road along the Deschutes River at the resort community around 4:10 p.m., and all three people were out of the aircraft quickly.
Sunriver Fire Department officials said there were no reported injuries aboard the plane, which had taken off to the north when an unknown problem forced the landing.
The landing gear was not down and there was some propeller damage, but no other problems were apparent. Fire officials found no hazardous material problems, and said the plane's operators will coordinate its removal from the meadow.
Federal Aviation Administration records indicate the 33-year-old plane's registered owner was the Whidbey Island Navy Flying Club in Oak Harbor,Wash. A club official referred all questions to the naval air stations' public affairs officer.
Sunriver Airport officials said airport operations were not affected by the incident.
