Ore. attorney general to discuss probe of mayor

Associated Press - June 22, 2009 1:15 PM ET

SALEM, Ore. (AP) - Oregon Attorney General John Kroger has scheduled a news conference to discuss his investigation into Portland Mayor Sam Adams and whether any laws were broken when he had a relationship in 2005 with a teenager.

Adams has admitted he lied during his mayoral campaign about his relationship with Beau Breedlove. But Adams denies that the two were involved in a sexual relationship before Breedlove was 18.

Kroger has in the past declined to discuss the Adams investigation, which is believed to focus on whether Adams committed third-degree sex abuse. It is a misdemeanor to have sexual contact with someone younger than 18.

Kroger's news conference is scheduled for Monday in Salem.
